1: Eggs. Depending on the breed, you could get almost three hundred eggs per hen per year!
2:The meat. You can buy chicks especially for butchering, or you can buy dual-purpose breeds in straight-run, and cull the excess cockerels for your table.
3:Manure. To get as much nitrogen in bagged fertilizer as you get from one chicken in a year, you would have to pay $20-$70!
4:Pest control. If you pasture your birds or free-range them, you will get natural and organic pest control that you can’t have any other way.
5:Enjoyment. You cannot buy the enjoyment you will get with your chickens. ( Well, you can if you buy chickens.
